It's game days Books! Game time is 7:00 pm, on Diamond #3. Once again this game will not be televised locally, so fans will need to attend the game to catch their favorite team in action. The front office released a statement last week in the Hooper Gazette and Plain City Post confirming that 3rd baseman Brodie Panter had signed a 20 year extension, and should be back in the line up tonight. However, the team will be without it's "Johny Bench Award Finalist" catcher, Merlin J Mckay. Reports coming down are that Merlin's injured shoulder is still sore, so he'll be attending the Plain City Monday night Yoga class while he continues to rehab. On a more serious note: Got Books will also be without its Gold Glove 2nd baseman Clint 'Winnis' Hadley, as he attends his Grandpa Hadley's viewing. The team and it's fans would like to send their love and support to the Hadley family, as they celebrate the long life of their Father & Grandfather, Glen Hadley.

Alright on with the awards! Gavin Crowther was the MVP of the night for his "Coleman" pitching a tent pitching. With is first pitch strikes and a lot of high heat, he lead our team to victory! Nice job Javan! The "Crow Tint" Gold Glove went to Seth Crowther for his amazing catch on the warning tracks. Someone tell Gage he owes us for advertising. Mer won the "Slip 'N Slide" http://www.ourtoyshop.com/waterslides.html slide of the game for that amazing slide into 3rd base. For the record he was called out and he injured himself, but still, what an amazing play! The AP reporter of the game was that beautiful Photographer on the 3rd base line near the Got Books dugout. I think Erin Andrews has a run for her money!

Headline: BOOKS OFF TO THEIR BEST START IN YEARS - (Hooper AP) Weber County - No late inning heroics were needed this week, as Got Books got off to a quick start and coasted to an easy 12-6 victory over the Pink Bunnies, to move to 4-0 on the season. After a quick first inning, highlighted by both teams sending wake up shots at the opposing pitcher, Got Books came out swinging. In the top of the 2nd, Clint “Winnis” Hadley got the bats going with a single, and after what seemed from the batter’s perspective to be an intentional walk that put Jared “Willy” Wilson on first, the bats heated up as Books put up 3 runs to get the scoring going. The onslaught continued over the next few innings, as Got Books pounded the opposing pitcher, and the defense kept the Pink Bunnies scratching their heads as they tried to find a hole in what appeared to be a diamond full of Gold Gloves! Cole Allen, bum elbow and all, put an exclamation point on the scoring with his 3rd home run in as many games, as he sent a shot into the left bleachers. The Pink Bunnies tried to make it interesting in the bottom of the 7th with a brief rally highlighted by a towering shot into the night by shortstop Matt Holmes, but it was too little too late. Game Notes: Got Books welcomed the new team photographer and part time team nurse, Mamma Faye, and appeared to have extra incentive to perform well for the camera. Merlin Mckay appeared to have injured his throwing shoulder while sliding into third, but popped it back into place and finished the game behind the plate. Malan Maw also was nursing his throwing arm after a hard throw to first, and will likely be nursed backed to health in the coming week by his wife. This just adds to a list of ongoing injuries to these ageless wonders known as Got Books.

I can see I have some practice ahead of me if I'm ever going to get some crisp action! Never thought I'd enjoy shooting sports, but I think I've changed my mind. Nice game boys! Get me out of the low lighting and maybe things can improve on my end.
